Privacy policy

Wingetly is a static-ish catalog of publicly available winget packages. We don't require an account, we don't run behavioural advertising, and we don't sell data. The only personal-ish data we touch is anonymous request metadata that our hosting provider needs to serve the site.

• No accounts, sign-ins, or user profiles.
• No tracking pixels or third-party advertising scripts.
• No cross-site tracking cookies.
• No server-side record of which apps you view or which packs you build.

Two things live in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device unless you explicitly share them:

• Your install pack - the list of package ids you've added. Cleared when you clear the pack or your site data.
• Recent searches - up to five recent search terms, used to repopulate the search dropdown.

When you copy a share link from the Packs builder, the package ids are encoded in the URL itself - anyone you share the URL with will see the same pack pre-loaded.

Our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider (Supabase) keep short-lived request logs containing IP address, user agent, and the requested path. These are used to operate and protect the service (rate limiting, abuse detection, performance) and are retained per their respective policies.

We may keep aggregate, non-identifying counts of pageviews per package to surface a “popular” signal in the future. We don't track this against user identifiers.

Wingetly itself does not set any tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may set strictly-necessary cookies for routing or security. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.

The site contains clearly-labelled links to our sponsor, Pckgr. When you click a sponsor link, your browser sends a referrer indicating which page on Wingetly you came from. We do this to measure sponsorship value; we don't share any other data.

Package homepages, license URLs, and download URLs link directly to third-party sites we don't control. Their privacy policies apply once you click through.

Wingetly is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If we materially change how we handle data, we'll update this page and bump the “last updated” date above.
